St. Louis Park native Owen Husney became the manager of Prince when the Minneapolis teenager was an unknown musical prodigy. The former teen guitarist with The High Spirits, a ’60s rock band that toured behind a regional hit, realized that Prince was destined for greatness, and relates how he guided the wunderkind’s early career in Famous People Who’ve Met Me (Rothco Press), a memoir packed with highly amusing stories. The music biz is legendarily corrupt, and Husney bares all in this book that also covers his encounters with Jimi Hendrix, Al Jarreau, Richard Harris, Yanni, et al. In the way of criticism, Husney should have popped for the services of a copy editor or proofreader to weed out the profusion of grammatical and punctuation errors, and typos.
