After a decade of studying and performing in the U.S., Tel Aviv native Noam Wiesenberg has released his debut album, Roads Diverge (Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records). The talented bassist and composer assembled a stellar cast of young jazz musicians for the recording sessions, and the result is an intriguing and beautiful record of eight original tunes and one cover (“The Tourist” by Radiohead). The album begins with “Prelude,” an ethereal track featuring Wiesenberg on bass and Shai Maestro on Fender Rhodes keyboard. “Melody for Ido,” which the composer dedicated to his brother, Ido, features Maestro and a soaring trumpet solo by Philip Dizack. The title track flows along, evoking a journey, and features Dayna Stephens on tenor sax. Roads Diverge showcases the myriad talents of a musician with a bright future. — Mordecai Specktor
