Documentary spans the globe asking, 'What is God?'

Filmmaker Peter Rodger shleps his camera to exotic locales — from the American Southwest to the Himalayas — and asks folks, “What is God?”
Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and tribal people confront the question in Rodger’s 98-minute documentary, Oh My God, which is showing now at the Lagoon Cinema in Uptown.
Rodger talks to clergy and rank-and-file believers, and some atheists. There are also some celebrities opining: illusionist David Copperfield, actor Hugh Jackman, singer Seal, former Beatle Ringo Starr, and musician and humanitarian Sir Bob Geldof.
Of course the Middle East comes into view. Rodger roams the West Bank and Jerusalem. He talks with Rabbi Menachem Froman, the chief rabbi of the Jewish settlement of Tekoa in the West Bank, who maintains a positive outlook about peace breaking out, when people realize that God exists in the “space between us.” The director muses about the fact that both Israelis and Palestinians seem hopeful about the prospects for peaceful coexistence.
