Here’s something for Shabbos, Jewish Hardcore Torah Punk Rock fans. It’s Moshiach Oi! advising that you “Better Get Ready,” cause Moshiach’s coming.
This is the title track from the band’s new album on Shabasa Records, which is 15 tracks that sound a lot like this tune. “I Wanna Learn Torah,” which clocks in at 1:12, evokes the Ramones, who preferred to be sedated rather than Jewishly learned.
The band was founded by Yishai Romanoff — “Yishai Yitzchak” — who writes the songs, plays guitar and sings. He is backed by Menashe Yaakov, guitar, vocals;Â Mitchell (Mordechai) Harrison, bass, vocals; and Pesach Simcha, drums.
Acccording to the MySpace bio, once the band lineup was set, “Moshiach Oi! was now prepared to take over the world and bring Moshiach by screaming ‘Oi!’ Moshiach Oi! played its first shows in late 2008-early 2009 at different venues around NYC, including one show with a band called The AIDS who screamed on stage that believing in G-d is stupid chv”s (before Moshiach Oi! took the stage).”
