As part of its annual community lecture series, the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Minnesota will host Professor Christine Hayes 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Beth El Synagogue, 5225 Barry St. W., St. Louis Park. She will present “‘We’re no Angels’: Perfectionism in Rabbinic Judaim.”
Hayes will explore radically diverse ancient Jewish conceptions of the nature of human perfection and whether or not humans can be, or should aspire to be, like angels. Hayes is the Weis Professor of Religious Studies in Classical Judaica at Yale University.
