The Twin Cities Jewish community will remember Debbie Freidman with a kumsitz of music and song 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at the Sabes JCC, 4330 Cedar Lake Rd. S., St. Louis Park. Friedman, who was born in New York and raised in St. Paul, died on Jan. 9 (1-21-11 AJW).

The Twin Cities tribute, which is sponsored by her family, friends and community in partnership with the Sabes JCC, was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 but was cancelled due to weather.

“Debbie inspired us to sing together as a community, old and young together, which is why we have chosen this format,” Wendy Goldberg, music director of Shir Tikvah and one of the event’s organizers, said in a press release. “Debbie’s family and friends wanted to ensure that any memorial to Debbie would be a tribute to the friend they loved and a celebration of her legacy, which is why we invite the entire community to bring their musical instruments, their voices and their memories.”
