Rabbi Berel and Sara Simpser, formerly of Aish Minnesota, have formed Kesher – Your Jewish Connection. Together with Kenesseth Israel Congregation in St. Louis Park, the newly formed organization will participate in the 16th annual Shabbat Across America and Canada program.

Members of Minneapolis’ Jewish community will gather in a display of Jewish revitalization and unity on Friday, March 2 at Kenesseth Israel, 4330 W. 28th St., St. Louis Park. Led by Rabbis Simpser and Chaim Goldberger, attendees will experience a Carlebach Kabbalat Shabbat service, beginning with candlelighting at 5:44 p.m., and a traditional Shabbat dinner with all the rituals explained at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a kids program.

Kesher and Kenesseth Israel will be one of approximately 700 synagogues across the continent that will simultaneously open its doors to practicing and non-practicing Jews alike, so they may join together to experience and rejoice in a traditional Shabbat service and festive meal. The program was conceived and organized by the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) in 1997.
