The Netherlands-based, early music ensemble Me La Amargates Tú will perform its unique Baroque Jewish sound 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at the St. Paul JCC, 1375 St. Paul Ave.
The music of Me La Amargates Tú combines the folkloric Ladino tradition with musical elements from the period when Sephardic Jews lived in the Iberian Peninsula, prior to their expulsion during the Spanish Inquisition. Using the melodies and text that remain from this time, the group revives Sephardic and Spanish music from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
Led by vocalist Estaban Manzano, ensemble members play recorders, Baroque harp, viola da gamba, guitar and percussion.

Moderator Ezra Glinter, deputy culture editor of the Jewish Daily Forward, will lead a discussion with the musicians of Me La Amargates Tú about the research behind their music; a live performance will take place at 3 p.m.
