Long before Adam Lambert became famous as an American Idol finalist, he performed “Shir L’Shalom” at a 2005 tribute concert to slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.
Lambert, who has made it through to the last seven of the eighth season of American Idol, sang the famous peace anthem with Israeli-American singers Maya Haddi and Noa Dori (above).
Rabin also joined in the singing of “Shir L’Shalom” at a peace rally in Tel Aviv, just before his assassination on Nov. 4, 1995.
Lambert, who began his entertainment career as a stage actor aged 10, is being predicted by many to win the current season of American Idol, which ends on May 20.
