The Shalaam Coalition at Macalester College will host Israel-Palestine Week, beginning Sunday, Nov. 13. The week’s events will kick off with a screening of The Bubble, 6 p.m. in the board room of Weyerhaeuser Hall, 62 Macalester St., St. Paul.
The film examines love, loss and violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It contains scenes of a sexually explicit nature and viewer discretion is advised.
Other events will include a lunchtime student conversation and professor panel discussion; a visit to Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish’s lecture at the St. Paul JCC as part of the 2011 Twin Cities Jewish Book Fair; on-campus lectures by Jordan Ash, of Jewish Voice for Peace – Minnesota, and Rabbi Amy Eilberg; and a wrap-up discussion.
The Shalaam Coalition consists of a group of individuals from diverse backgrounds and various student organizations who are invested in the discussion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. For a schedule of Israel-Palestine Week events, see the event flyer here.
