Need assistance with medical appointments? JFCS’ L’Chaim Senior Services (LCSS) can help. We pick you up at your home, drive to your medical appointment, stay with you and drive you back home. You must be a client of LCSS and be 60 years and older. A case manager’s assessment is required. You must also be able to transfer in and out of the vehicle. Wheelchairs or oxygen tanks cannot be accommodated. No pets allowed in the vehicle. The program serves the greater Minneapolis area with some geographic restrictions. The fee is $12 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Limited to two trips per month. (Sliding fee scale is available).

This adult day service program is a wonderful environment for people who otherwise might be alone and isolated during the day. Adults with memory and/or physical impairments, dementia and developmental disabilities will enjoy a safe, stimulating and supportive environment at the Deikel Family AlterCare Program. It offers respite for the at-home caregiver during the day. Located on the Ackerberg Community Campus in St. Louis Park. Occasionally support groups are offered for caregivers of individuals with memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Here’s a convenient, reliable way for adults 60 years and older to get to a doctor’s appointment, friend’s house, grocery store and more. Deikel Transportation provides rides for clients of the JFCS L’Chaim Senior Services Program who reside within a defined service area in Hennepin County.

The professional staff at JFCS works closely with older adults age 60 and over and their families to ensure safe, supported and independent living at home. Participants receive case management and services such as transportation, shopping assistance, housecleaning, kosher Meals on Wheels, medication setup, bathing, foot care and health monitoring. Reverse mortgage counseling is now available. The program also offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. We help to create an environment that nurtures healthy aging and inspires residents of all ages to work toward that goal.
JFS — Senior Services
We help seniors remain in their homes through personalized assessment, planning, and case management. We offer complete in-home assessment; individualized care plans family consultation, and arrangements for homemaking, personal care, nursing, and delivery of kosher meals. Staff includes bilingual Russian-English speaking case managers. JFS staff facilitate a grief support group and a support group for caregivers caring for family members with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

As a provider of Senior Service America, JVS offers a lifeline to seniors in need through paid training opportunities and job placement for individuals 55 or older who want part-time or full-time employment and wish to learn valuable job skills while training at nonprofit organizations such as community centers or social service organizations. Once the training period ends, JVS assists each person in finding permanent employment.
