More than 12 percent of the local Jewish community comes from the former Soviet Union. Whether someone is new to the United States or has been living here for several years, JFCS provides services for all ages and stages of life from young adults making career and college choices, to parenting years, to older adults thinking about retirement and health concerns. JFCS offers culturally and linguistically appropriate information, referral and services, along with strategies for positively approaching life’s transitions.

Offers telephone and in-person information and referral services to Russian speakers throughout Minnesota who have questions about social services, medical care, housing, and other community services.
JFS — Refugee Resettlement
Providing pre-arrival, arrival and post-arrival services to Jewish refugees.
JVS — Immigrant and Refugee Employment Assistance

Using its program resources and long-standing expertise, JVS assists U.S. immigrants who need help with job readiness training, American work culture orientation, English for the workplace and employment assistance.

Interpreter services are offered for all Russian-speaking adults who need the service; in person interpreting as well as telephone interpreting provided. Trips and tours are planned throughout the year. The Russian Language Library is open twice a month. ESL classes and citizenship classes are offered.

The Russian-American Project of the United Jewish Fund and Council of St. Paul attracts, guides and educates Jews ages 18-45 from the Former Soviet Union to the local Jewish community. We provide educational programs for families, organize social events and singles events, and traditionally celebrate Jewish holidays, as well as attract volunteers to other Jewish agencies in St. Paul.
